I
first offered to "do something" with our church
foyer board around 2001, after we'd been attending
the church for a few years and I'd noticed it always
looked unkempt. It quickly became an enjoyable
challenge for me to keep it up. The congregation
seems to look forward to seeing something new each
season and I have had a lot of positive feedback.
We also have a lot of traffic in and out of the
building during the week, as there are various
non-church groups that use our facility. I try to
convey a scriptural or uplifting message with each
board and consider it a form of ministry.
I have been looking at and using ideas
from BoardsGalore for several years now. It
has been a tremendous help to me!! I have quite a collection of both my
versions of boards from this siteand some originals.

Valentine's Day This one was fun! I
made up the sayings and stenciled them on each heart, which took forever but
was worth it.
Pour out my Spirit & Clouds of Life Here are a couple of
general boards for all seasons. I use a lot of the 'torn paper' technique
for foregrounds which I find is effective in giving dimension to a board,
and is also rather therapeutic and fun to do! I use acid-free, fade proof
paper I buy at an art store for both background and the torn paper effects.
Easter -
Here's a good one if you don't
want to have to change the board after Easter... it's good for the season!
it's effective to highlight it from behind.

Fall vines board: "I love the luscious -looking plastic grapes on
this board, purchased some years ago from a craft store. I have used
them before and they were ready for a second round. They really stand
out - more so than in the photo - and then a simple vine and lettering
completes the board. You could also use this board for a communion
theme, by adding a glass of wine and loaf of bread. "
Evangelizing board: "This board was super-simple to do in a
minimum amount of time. I used stick on letters, and got the 'shadow'
people images from the internet ( modified somewhat.) The impact of the
board comes from using the blocks of coloured paper which co-ordinate
with the purchased border.
I have received so many helpful ideas
from this board that I wanted to contribute
my versions and ideas for others to share.
