Advent bulletin The drawing of Bethlehem is my composition
based on various photos on the internet. The figures around the
picture are from internet clip-art. Bethlehem (house of bread) is
the Hebrew form of a name justified because of the fertility and
productivity of the soil. The town is more than 2000 feet above
sea-level. It is about 5 miles south of Jerusalem, situated on a
ridge running E&W. The hills of Judea can be seen in the
background.

The candles of Advent represent
the following:
Hope - the prophet's candle
Peace - Bethlehem's candle
Joy - the shepherd's candle
Love - the angel's candle
Salvation - Christ's candle
The first four candles are purple
(sometimes the one for joy will be pink)
because in ancient times purple dye
(made from mollusks) was more costly
than gold. The fifth one representing
Christ is a white candle. Christmas |

The ornaments are from a Microsoft Greetings Workshop CD. The hands for
evergreens were inspired by a wreath made by
Linda T. Children in Grades 3&4 who are in
our church program drew their hands on green
construction paper for the project. |

The background and letters on the side panels of the bulletin
board at the church are made from wrapping paper. |
 Here's
a photo of my February bulletin board. It was made using
"the printshop" version 22 (a Christmas present). The program is
new to me and different from other programs that I have used. I
found out the expensive way that using outlines of hearts, rather
than filling them in with color, uses a lot less ink.

God's Garden
The poem on this BB is original, the idea for the picket fence came
from a BB that Margaret A. did, and most of the items in the garden
were internet clip art accessed through Printshop version 22. |
