Christmas

I used the dark green material for background.  I bought the church for just over a dollar after Xmas.  And the candles were also about a dollar for 2 of them.  I cut a rectangle from flashing and drilled three holes in the top.  I think you can see the clear push pins.  I used doilies to cover the metallic silver of the flashing.  After I figured out how to hold the candles and the church on the board, I slept like a baby!  Our pianist was standing with arms folded and looking at the board as I came to church last Sunday.  She said............I just have to stand here and soak all this in.  This is SO beautiful and so peaceful.  Hey, I guess she liked it.
So I guess for two or three dollars plus all the other stuff on hand...........I have a winner.
I have gotten some good ideas from your site and wanted to share mine!

Christmas

I have a type of bamboo in my yard and when dry is quite hard although hollow.  I cut notches to make the cross and tied with a piece of leather.  I also used bamboo to fashion the "tree" with plastic poinsettias and draped lights through the tree too.  The Xmas lights on a glittery garland added so much.

Printed:  "Jesus gave his gift on the tree not under it" with a placemat as the frame.

Christmas

I was browsing the dollar store and found the angels and then thought of how I could use them.  The round balls and the big star are also dollar store items.

My friend made the nativity scene years ago, I cut a cardboard box and covered with contact to look like a cave.  The contact was named Granite.  How cool is that?
I had some very long paper fasteners to hold the 'roof' edge down and ran some lights through them to hold the lights up.

Christmas / His Presence is our Presents.
I used wrapping paper background, gold garland.   Red cardstock for the letters and white is shadow cut with the Cricut machine.

Red fuzzy ribbon for the "package" and bow.  This is the message bulletin board.

Christmas - I used dark blue material background.  A string of 100 clear lights and silver garland for the border.I used a string of silver bells, a star, and continued the lights onto the tree. The letters are 2 1/2 inch and cut with a Cricut machine on a sheet of white plastic material. The dove, and other animals were in a package.  At Christmas I plan to put baby Jesus in the manger if I can find one suitable size.

John 3:16 / Valentine's Day

The background is dark green.  I cut the heart and circle out of a large piece of a plastic that is used for making the magnetic signs for vehicles.  That is all I had that big!   I used John 3:16  For God so loved the world.....  printed it, cut the words and taped them on the plastic.  On the heart I glued crinkly shredded paper for baskets.  The border is metallic commercial border. I thought this would be good for now until after Valentine's Day.

Hearts / Kind Words

I had found a dry erase heart board, and I used a half of some little kiddie purses along with some of the jewels included on them.  The other hearts were also in the dollar store, some type of frame I think.  To make it fit I turned the little purse upside down. I used this last fall

Mother's Day

Old doll quilt with pillows

Summer

I used ideas from your site and this is my version.  It was such fun finding all the items.  I could not find an anchor, so made one of cardboard and covered with a lot of watered down white glue and scrunched up brown paper bags.

Easter

I used a clock movement and second hand.  Thus "Risen"  appears every 1/2 minute.  I covered a check book box and wrote "He is" The box represents the tomb. The tissue colors represent "the coat of many colors".  Long pins hold it on the board.  At first I just had the clock movement part, and on Easter Sunday added the "rock" for the emphasis of the rock being rolled away.  The hardest part was getting the tissue paper on the bb.

Winter

My version of one from your site.  I used quilt batting for the 'snow' Some paper doily parts for snowflakes. I had a waterer that was to go on a large pop bottle to water plants slowly........made the nose.  Buttons for eyes and some beads for the mouth and buttons. This was a huge favorite with the congregation.  Some still recall the snowman!

Winter / Snowman
I used batting for the snowman and snowflakes. I used the same background and lights as my Christmas one.

I printed the carrot, actually I also printed two small hats and then cut them into the coal shapes.

Patriotic board for celebration of the 4th of July

I found all elements at the dollar store.  Oops.  Now it is the 1.19 store.  The little stars were created to hang.  Little did they know they would be going this way and that on the BB. I used a plastic tablecloth for the background.  Dollar store item too.

Ten Commandments

I made the roof for the "church" (which is a poster The Ten Commandments) for Kids from two box ends and added some bulletin board border. I found some 'children' in my clip art. The cross is a book marker some one gave me.

I used the inspiration of Faith Watt's BB in your site.

 Brush up on your Scripture

I found a poster for taking care of teeth, plus the tooth cutouts, dental kit, and toothbrush from the dollar store.  I put Bible verses on some of the teeth.   Just in time for "candy time...Halloween"

Easter / Cross / Lighted (original)

About this time last year, I was seeing various crosses and I had the idea to make one that was lighted.  The process of creation took me nearly a year to accomplish.

But finally in January, I decided I had to stop thinking and start DOING.  I had some nice commercial boxes that I cut for the cross shape, and taped and glued them together.  I tried various light strings which were all too warm for an enclosed box, but by luck I had bought a set of clear LED lights after Christmas.  They make no heat so I tied them in to their places in the box.  Also at this stage it is a good idea to add a hanger.  I just use those twist ties you get with the garbage bags.

I used clear contact paper and tore pieces of colored tissue.  I had to go back and cut off the over lapping parts as it looked pretty disgusting at first.

After the contact was cut to cross shape, I decided to just hot glue it on the boxes.

I have a sort of bamboo plant that grows like a weed.........I suppose it is, but have no idea how it ever got started growing at my place.  It makes a large stalk and of course, now that I have found a use for it...........it snowed early last fall and broke a lot of them.  The year before crop I tied together at the top and stuck the bottoms in my planters and the morning glories had a hey day climbing up the stalks.  They are very weather hardy too, and are still in the pots!  Uff Da.  WE have had and are still having a LONG winter.

Anyway, I brought in my bamboo stalks and let them warm up for a few days, and then cut the size pieces I needed with the jigsaw.  Yes, the bamboo, is pretty hard!  They are also hot glued on.

Oh, the plug in part hangs out of the bottom end of the box.

My bulletin board measurement is 34 by 47.  I think the length of the cross was 30 inches long and not quite that wide.  So it is large!

I needed a board border so I cut strips from paper bags, crushed and mashed them well, and then lightly added some gold, browns, and black accents with my various stamp pads.

I added a little paper scroll with just the words Mark 8:34 which is basically take up your cross and follow me.

The best part was that our scripture lessons the week after the board was up was the same, and the bulletin cover also was a cross with that verse emphasized.  Cool, huh?

I think that pretty well describes what I did.  Any questions just holler!

I used a blow up 'globe'.  Got the hands from my supplier for church goodies, the large musical frame from dollar store and then copied the song:  He's Got the Whole World in his Hands

To hang I used a piece of flashing and covered it with some contact paper.  I bent it a bit and stuck behind the bulletin board.  I made a hole in the outer end and put a decoration wire through a swivel fisherman use.  Used some fish line to hang from swivel to the globe.  And viola...........it turns!

Don't let your spirit cool off

Many thanks to Jody Hartley from Boards Galore for the inspiration

I found thermometer clip art on line and also used my real thermometer.

The grass withers

many thanks to Lumette Boontjer
from Boards Galore for the inspiration
I used a 35 light string behind the tissue to give the "impression" of the setting sun.

Table Decorations:
I decorate the tables when I redo the bb and here are a few of mine.  Glad we have a dollar store!

Christmas
Wired a short strand of red lights into several flowers and left the rest loose, placed in a basket with some batting.

This is on the table at the entrance.
I wrapped cans with Christmas wrap, cut a flame of cardstock with a tab to be inserted through a slit and glued in a separate circle cut to hide the messy folds on end of can.  About 24 inches of garland and attached balls with the hanger. Then added some of my ornaments collected through the years.
